Safe Flooring

But remember kids, always use protection...

This is how our floor will look like for a while but its better than having paint and other crap spilled on it...
Painting continues and we are trying to choose between 3 off white shades. (Magnolia is looking attractive or do they call it Taupe now??)

Hi,
I've just got planning to build with Griffner and was just wondering how you found them. Your house looks great. wilkes.robert@gmail.com

Hi Robert,
I found them very professional and easy to get on with. The Austrian crew were very efficient and good craic too! Points to watch out for.
-If you can get then to leave about 15-20mm off at the bottom of the Fermacell cement board on the internal walls and internal faces of it will make it easier for the electrician to fish his wires up.
-All the trades hate cutting the Fermacell as you need power tools to do it. (It is very tough stuff
-Try to light sloping ceilings from below as it is difficult for the electrician to install lights in the ceilings once the walls are closed up especially if they are high like our ones.
-If you are putting lights in the timber ceilings (between the beams) get the electrician to centre the light between the beam and not in the centre of the room. This is quite easy to happen especially if there is only one light.
-Plumbing walls will have to be built by your chippie, if you talk nicely to Griffner they may leave you some sheets of Fermacell to build these. It is better than plasterboard and you will avoid having to use two different types of skim when you plaster. A god plasterer will get the hang of the Fermacell system in about 20 minutes. The rep will come out to show him how it works.
-After the speed of the Griffner build everything else seems to move very sloooooollllllllyyyyy. Don't be discouraged and try not to slap people who keep asking you "You must be moving in shortly?" from the moment Griffner leave site until you are eventually finished.
Most of all enjoy the process and try not to get too stressed out...

Thanks for the advice and tips. Unfortunately too late on the stress as it's already setting in!

Our ground works guy was excellent having worked on timber frame houses in the USA. Unfortunately he is now working for someone else as a rep and no longer doing rafts.
